These standards require certification by independent laboratories to certify safety and compliance with materials components, and operation. Each product is required to be labeled with appropriate safety information.

The Consumer Product Safety Information Act requires toy distributors to label products in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. The manufacturers recommendations are compared against the guidelines used by the third-party laboratories to ensure compliance.
